Sr Data Scientist, Customer and Real Estate Analytics

Reporting to the Director, Informatics & Governance the Sr. Data Scientist will be responsible for developing a comprehensive suite of analytics and visualizations to support real estate decisions rooted in a deep understanding of customer behavior.

Responsibilities

Real Estate and Customer Analytics

  • Use established and cutting edge data science techniques to build models and visualizations to support the strategic decision making for Gap Inc’s Real Estate team. Examples include:

  • Impact of real estate activities (e.g. openings, closures, remodels) on customer behaviors and business outcomes

  • Customer-based store sales forecasts

  • Market simulation models

  • Build repeatable analytics using modern data science platforms (e.g. Domino Data Lab)

  • Collaborate with rest of the Customer Data and Analytics team to solve complex problems

  • Mentor more junior members of the Customer Data and Analytics team

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience solving problems using data science methods such as statistical modeling and machine learning

  • Expert level technical experience in analytical tools such as R and Python as well as GIS visualization tools such as QGIS and ArcGIS. Experience with Big Data tools such as Hadoop/Hive, Spark, and Scala is highly desirable

  • Deep knowledge of retail and ecommerce customer domains highly desirable

  • Proficient in data access methods for large customer and transaction databases

  • Proficient in developing high quality, reusable, and scalable analytics supporting a wide variety of customer and business outcomes

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred (preferably in a quantitative field such as math, statistics, physics, chemistry, engineering, economics, computer science, operations research)
